Not there, not here
On the fence
they say
Bastardization
the unique vantage point
Of the
people gone before
And the
bornfrees changing the earth
Be careful
if you look back
That you don’t
throw the baby out with the bathwater
On the other
hand the myriad of possibilities with their spanking brand new clean slates
I refuse to
boxed, I refuse to burn out
Don’t medicate
me because I have a brain
I’m the
child of the hardworking generation
Who worked
for me to dream to be free
A little
socially akward if you have been raised on rules
But didn’t prepare
me for the new version
Of the same
old same old.
If I
complain, or question or challenge
Stop boxing
me,
I know my
place
And its not
in a box
Been there
done that
Are you
black or white?
Do you Like
Manchester or Liverpool?
Do you live
here or there?
Is your hair
straight or curly?
Is it Jesus
or the world?
Is it
plastic straws or climate change or lgbtqia+++ toilets…
Agendas,
Amended, Unending
But nothing undone,
healed
The world is
run by 60 and 25 year olds
They both
hardheaded and eat work for breakfast
The 45 year
olds like new sages,
Observing and
only spouting wisdom when asked.
I’m not
waiting till I retire
To build
what I believe.
My fellow
middle agers
(are we that
old?)
We know
where we came from
We know the good changes we see
We also know
old school values
Real
community
This is your
call
To utter your
wisdom
With your
head held up
We were raised
to keep quiet
And not so
rebellious or thick skinned like the Gen Xers
But wisdom
is not often in the crowd
Don’t be
afraid to say your say.
You may be
alone
But your
view point is much needed.
As this
world rushes to dominate and thought police
I’m learning
to block out the naysayers
The ones who
don’t understand authenticity
We all have
our own journeys
Maybe we have
been hidden for a reason
Sanity that
will bring completion
